Convention Scholarship Program

OΔK Convention Scholarship Program:

Attendance at the Summit and Convention is an integral part of Circle standards and in order for a Circle to be in “good standing” with the national organization it must send a delegate to each biennial convention.  While we encourage Circles to find ways of raising money to cover the cost, we know some Circles do not have access to university funding or have the ability to raise significant funds on campus and so the cost of attending the convention falls entirely on individual students.  To assist our Circles with the cost of sending a delegate to the Leadership Summit and Convention, we have established a Circle Delegate Scholarship Program.  This year we will award up to 70 Circles with a scholarship to cover their Delegate’s cost of transportation to and from the convention (mileage or airfare), the convention registration fee, lodging, and breakfast and dinner during the program.  (All Delegates from Circles who have paid their Affiliation fee for the 2009-2010 academic year will still have their registration fee waived regardless of whether or not a scholarship is granted.)

In order for Circles to qualify for the program they must have paid their affiliation fee for the 2009-'10 academic year and send a Circle member who is returning to school for the 2010-'11 academic year (Sending the Circle President or other Student Officer for the next year is preferable).  Applications for the 2010 Convention Scholarships are now closed.

*Once a Circle/individual is selected to receive a Convention Delegate Scholarship, the Circle will work with NHQ to arrange their travel and itinery.  All Scholarship winners will be assigned a roommate from among other recipients.  If a delgate has made arrangements and cancels after June 3rd, the Circle will be invoiced for the delgate's travel and hotel expenses.  If you have any questions about the Scholarship process, contact OΔK at awards@odk.org.
